Relationships. Change. Life.
We all have painful patterns in our lives that we've struggled to figure out how to shift. I believe change occurs when we are able to have experiences of ourselves, others, and the world that counteract previous experiences that have rigidified in our bodies and minds. In my therapeutic work, I help to create those experiences during session by being a deep and empathetic listener and an active and challenging guide and facilitator.
One of my main areas of focus is couples therapy. I am deeply passionate about learning about how relationships work and where people tend to get stuck with each other. I was trained to think of relationship conflict as an iceberg. We only see the top 10% of the iceberg on a daily basis (fighting about the dishes again!), but the other 90% of the dynamic is hidden under the surface. I help people to access and express the hidden dynamics of relationships, which often leads to significant changes in patterns that have felt immovable. I have a particular interest and speciality in working with less typical relationships including non-monogamous relationships, coparents, decoupling partners, non-romantic friends, and family members. I have training in Emotionally Focused Therapy, Sex Therapy, and Discernment Counseling, a process that works with couples who don’t know whether they want to stay together.
In my work with individual clients, I apply many principles from my work as a couples therapist, exploring how we are shaped by the relationships in our lives and creating transformation in relational patterns in my clients’ lives. I take an approach that emphasizes emotional and physical experience in order to help clients not only intellectually understand patterns, but create meaningful change in their lives. Some of my areas of speciality and issues that I am ready to explore with clients are chronic illness, technology addiction, anxiety/depression, suicidality, grief and loss, and gender dynamics.
A bit about me: I’m queer and love working with the LGBTQ+ community. I have a background in organizing for environmental, racial, and social justice and am active in the Minneapolis music and dance communities. Spiritual practice is deeply important to me, and I am nourished by connection with the natural world, community-based spiritual events, and Buddhist teachings.
I am currently taking new clients for in-person sessions at either our St. Paul location or Minneapolis location as well as virtual sessions. I currently have availability at the Minneapolis location Tuesdays 9-5pm, Wednesdays 5-8pm, and Fridays 9-5pm. I have availability at the St. Paul location Thursdays 12-8pm. I have online availability Mondays 9-5, Wednesdays 12-5 and during the times listed above, though I may prioritize in-person clients during my in-person hours.
I am a pre-licensed clinician under the supervision of Hannah Stevens, LMFT. As a pre-licensed clinician, I am not currently able to see clients under Medica, United Healthcare, or UMR insurances. I am also not able to see clients who are under a Medicare plan. I am typically able to work with other major insurance plans (details).

“We cannot change, we cannot move away from what we are, until we thoroughly accept what we are. Then change seems to come about almost unnoticed.”
