Master's Level Intern

Hey there! I’m Theo. I’m a Therapist Intern currently completing my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Southwestern College.

Prior to my clinical training, I spent years working closely with individuals living with HIV, helping them navigate complex health insurance systems and access life-saving care. This background taught me that healing is deeply connected to our environment. I bring a compassionate, culturally sensitive, and systemic lens to therapy, ensuring we look at the whole picture of your life—not just your symptoms.

As a transgender Mexican American man, I understand how lived experiences can shape the barriers and challenges a person faces. I am dedicated to creating an affirming, celebratory space for individuals navigating identity, relationship design, and mental health. I specialize in supporting trans men, transmasculine individuals, the LGBTQ+ community, and BIPOC folks. I am especially passionate about men's mental health, helping clients deconstruct societal pressures and build an authentic relationship with their own masculinity. Whether you are exploring your gender evolution, navigating intersectional cultural experiences, or practicing alternative relationship styles like polyamory, non-monogamy, or kink, I am here to walk alongside you.

I use an integrative, strength-based narrative approach, meaning we will work together to reshape the stories that impact your life while honoring your innate resilience. Depending on your unique goals and needs, I also draw from ecotherapy (connecting healing with nature), solution-focused therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and CBT. Together, we will build a collaborative, judgment-free space where your whole self is honored.

Outside of the office: I love a long thrift store day, checking out the latest movies (preferably in the theater with a big tub of popcorn and chocolate almonds), exploring local coffee shops, and hitting the weights at the gym.

Love heals. When we are wounded in the place where we would know love, it is difficult to imagine that love really has the power to change everything... Mindful remembering lets us put the broken bits and pieces of our hearts together again. This is the way healing begins."
